Public Record Request Process
When our agency receives your request for public records, a tracking number is assigned and an acknowledgement is sent to you. If all or part of your request cannot be disclosed due to confidentiality, we will redact the information and provide you with an explanation and legal reference. Exempt information in the records will be blacked out.
State law allows agencies to charge a “special service charge” for providing records that require extensive use of resources and staff. According to Chapter 119, Florida Statutes, this includes locating, reviewing for confidential information, redacting, copying and re-filing of records. You will receive an itemized cost calculation of fees. Payment must be submitted in certified funds (cash, cashier’s check, certified check or money order). Once payment has been received, we will proceed with processing your request.
